2 Euro Commemorative Coin Andorra 2016 25th Anniversary of the Radio and Television of Andorra The Andorran 2-euro commemorative coin issued in 2016 marks the beginnings of public broadcasting in the principality. Ràdio Nacional d’Andorra began regular transmissions during the New Year transition from 31 December 1990 to 1 January 1991. Andorran television followed in January 1991, initially as a test service. These launches gave the country its own public media, intended to inform, educate and entertain, and later serving as an important record of national events. The institutional development grew from a broadcasting structure created after the floods of 1982 and ultimately evolved into today’s RTVA. The coin depicts a microphone and an antenna surrounded by concentric lines. Its inscription identifies the twenty-fifth anniversary, the year 2016 and Andorra.
