2 Euro Commemorative Coin Andorra 2017 Andorra, the Pyrenean country The 2017 two-euro commemorative coin is devoted to Andorra as “the country of the Pyrenees,” emphasizing the principality’s geographical identity. Its upper field contains a triangle formed by three flowing bands, a deliberately simplified representation of Andorra’s map. Together with the words “Andorra” and “EL PAÍS DELS PIRINEUS,” this emblem reproduces the visual identity used by the Andorran government. The design therefore has a communicative function as well as a geographical one: it gives official graphic material a consistent appearance and makes the country instantly identifiable. The wording also points to Andorra’s position in the Pyrenees between France and Spain. The date 2017 appears below, while twelve stars surround the image as the European flag. Andorra issued 85,000 coins on 1 December 2017.
