2 Euro Commemorative Coin Andorra 2019 600th Anniversary of the Consell de la Terra The commemorative coin marks the establishment of the Consell de la Terra in 1419. In that year, Andorrans received permission from their two lords, the Bishop of Urgell and the Count of Foix, to choose representatives from the parishes. This assembly addressed matters affecting the valleys collectively, including territorial and economic affairs, disputes, and the protection of local rights. It is regarded as the predecessor of the modern Consell General, Andorra’s parliament. The coin’s central image presents the upper section of the entrance to Casa de la Vall, the institution’s former seat. Groups of human faces flank the architectural motif and convey the cohesion of Andorrans as a community shaped by shared history, institutions, and values. The inscription and dates identify the six-century commemoration.
