2 Euro Commemorative Coin Finland 2024 Elections and Democracy The Finnish 2‑euro commemorative coin highlights voting as a foundation of participatory government. It refers to the 1906 parliamentary reform that replaced the estate‑based Diet with a unicameral parliament and introduced universal, equal suffrage for citizens aged 24 and over. In the first parliamentary elections in March 1907 men and women voted and stood for office under the new rules; 19 women were elected as the world’s first female members of parliament. The design consists of eight abstract, partially overlapping ballots formed from circles and rectangles; inscriptions appear in Finnish and Swedish, with the national FI mark and twelve EU stars.
