2 Euro Commemorative Coin Germany 2019 70th Anniversary of the Bundesrat Issued in 2019, this German 2-euro commemorative coin marks the 70th anniversary of the Bundesrat, which was constituted in Bonn on 7 September 1949. As a constitutional body, the Bundesrat represents Germany’s Länder and participates in federal legislation. The coin continues the “German Länder” series launched in 2006, but its subject is not a single state or landmark: it honors the federal institution itself. Michael Otto’s design presents the Bundesrat building and its garden ensemble in a carefully modeled perspective. The composition draws the viewer toward the building while emphasizing the institution’s role in Germany’s federal order.
