2 Euro Commemorative Coin Italy 2015 EXPO Milano 2015 Italy’s 2015 €2 commemorative coin marks Expo Milano 2015, the world exhibition held in Milan from 1 May to 31 October. Its central theme, “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life,” addressed the worldwide challenges of securing healthy, sufficient and sustainable food while protecting the environment. The event also renewed Milan’s role in Italy’s exhibition history, returning a world exposition to the city for the first time since 1906. The coin expresses this message through a compact image of natural growth. A water-fed seed is shown about to sprout on a semicircle representing the Earth. From a tree trunk rise a vine, an olive branch and an ear of wheat. The Expo logo and the twelve European Union stars complete the design.
