2 Euro Commemorative Coin Italy 2020 80th Anniversary of the Foundation of the National Firefighters Corps Italy’s 2020 two-euro commemorative coin marks the 80th anniversary of the Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco, whose national identity and current name were established through the 1939 reorganization. Before that change, firefighting services were largely municipal, so the country gradually pursued common rules, equipment, and technical procedures. The national corps was created to protect people, extinguish fires, and provide technical assistance in emergencies. Its modern responsibilities also connect it with civil protection, including safeguarding the environment, infrastructure, and cultural heritage during disasters. The coin’s central design presents the fire service emblem, combining a flame, helmet, and crossed axes. Around it are the Italian Republic monogram “RI,” the year 2020, the Rome mint mark R, and designer Luciana De Simoni’s initials, while twelve stars encircle the outer ring.
