2 Euro Commemorative Coin Italy 2022 170th Anniversary of the foundation of the Italian National Police Italy’s 2022 €2 commemorative coin marks 170 years of the State Police. Its institutional origin reaches back to the Kingdom of Sardinia, where the Corpo delle Guardie di Pubblica Sicurezza was established in Turin on 11 July 1852 as the predecessor of today’s Polizia di Stato. Although names and uniforms changed over more than a century and a half, the service’s relationship with communities and public security remained central. A decisive modernisation came with Law No. 121 of 1981, which demilitarised the police and reorganised it as a modern civilian force with a special legal structure. The design presents that legacy through two officers, a woman and a man, standing before a police car. The inscription POLIZIA DI STATO and 1852–2022 link origin to present, while twelve stars add a European frame.
