2 Euro Commemorative Coin Luxembourg 2013 The National Anthem of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Issued on 7 November 2013, this 2 euro commemorative recalls the 20th anniversary of the law of 27 July 1993 that designated "Ons Heemecht" as Luxembourg’s national anthem. Poet Michel Lentz wrote the lyrics in 1859 and Jean‑Antoine Zinnen set them to music in 1864; the officially used version contains the first and last stanzas. The song was first performed publicly in 1864 by four choristers at a brass‑band contest in Ettelbrück. The coin’s inner core depicts, on the right, a left‑facing portrait of Grand Duke Henri and, on the left, the anthem’s musical notation and text; the legend "Ons Heemecht", "LËTZEBUERG" and the date "2013" appear on the design. A team from the Banque centrale du Luxembourg prepared the motif; twelve EU stars circle the outer ring.
