2 Euro Commemorative Coin Luxembourg 2021 40th Anniversary of the Wedding of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa - Photo Version Issued in 2021, this coin commemorates the wedding of Maria Teresa Mestre and then‑Hereditary Grand Duke Henri on 14 February 1981 at Luxembourg's Notre‑Dame Cathedral, the event being celebrated on its 40th anniversary. Henri ascended as Grand Duke on 7 October 2000 and Maria Teresa has borne the title Grand Duchess since. The design shows side‑by‑side portraits of the couple, two wedding rings beneath and the inscription '14 FEBRUAR 1981' together with the issue year '2021'. 'LËTZEBUERG' appears at the lower rim and the outer ring carries the twelve EU stars. The motif is credited to the team of the Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL).
