2 Euro Commemorative Coin Luxembourg 2008 Grand - Duke Henri and the Chateau de Berg The 2008 Luxembourg 2-euro commemorative honors Grand Duke Henri and his official residence, Berg Castle, celebrating the building itself rather than a specific anniversary. The obverse places a right-facing portrait of Grand Duke Henri in the left foreground, with Berg Castle depicted to the right and behind him. Design details include the year 2008, the country inscription "LËTZEBUERG", the mint mark and the twelve stars of the euro. The site dates back to the 14th century and has been the grand-ducal family’s private residence since 1911 after a rebuilding under William IV; he moved in on 15 September 1911. The artwork and engraving were produced by the team of the Banque centrale du Luxembourg.
