2 Euro Commemorative Coin Portugal 2014 The International Year of Family Farming The Portuguese €2 from 2014 commemorates the UN‑declared International Year of Family Farming (IYFF 2014), officially launched on 22 November 2013. The issue highlights the role of family and smallholder farms in food security, poverty reduction, sustainable development and the stewardship of natural resources. The FAO cites over 500 million family farms worldwide, typically operated mainly by family members. The reverse depicts traditional agricultural tools and produce, including a chicken, pumpkins and a basket of potatoes.
