2 Euro Commemorative Coin Slovakia 2016 The first Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union From 1 July to 31 December 2016, Slovakia held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first time. This rotating responsibility gives each member state a particular role in organising and facilitating European work. The coin places the Slovak coat of arms within a field of dynamic lines converging at the centre. It presents the presidency not as separation, but as Slovakia’s contribution to the coordinated work of the member states.
