2 Euro Commemorative Coin Spain 2015 30th Anniversary of the EU Flag Spain’s 2‑euro commemorative coin of 2015 marks the 30th anniversary of the European flag and forms part of a common national reverse issued by euro countries in November 2015. At its heart the design places the European flag as a visual pledge of connection between peoples and cultures and of shared ideals aimed at a better future. The twelve stars morph into stylised human figures, evoking the emergence of a renewed Europe, while the outer ring repeats the flag’s twelve stars. The motif was created by Georgios (George) Stamatopoulos of the Bank of Greece and was chosen in a public online poll that gathered 30 percent of the votes.
