2 Euro Commemorative Coin Spain 2025 Old City of Salamanca - UNESCO World Heritage Sites The Spanish 2-euro commemorative coin of 2025 honors the Old City of Salamanca on the occasion of its inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The reverse depicts a view of the Dominican convent Convento de San Esteban; along the lower rim appear “ESPAÑA” and the year 2025, above “SALAMANCA” and the mint mark Eme Coronada. Salamanca is presented as an ancient university town in western Spain: after a Carthaginian conquest in the 3rd century BC and a Roman settlement phase, the city experienced Muslim rule until the 11th century. Its streets retain Romanesque, Gothic, Moorish, Renaissance and Baroque monuments, notably the Plaza Mayor and the historic university. This is the FNMT’s 16th coin in the series launched in 2010, scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
