2 Euro Commemorative Coin Germany 2012 10th Anniversary of Euro coins and banknotes Germany’s “10 Years of Euro Cash” €2 commemorative coin marks the tenth anniversary of the introduction of euro banknotes and coins. Issued on 2 January 2012, it formed part of a shared release by all euro-area countries. The central design was selected by European citizens in an online vote from five proposals and was created by Austrian engraver Helmut Andexlinger. Its composition brings together the euro symbol, people, stars and a globe. These elements connect the currency with European integration, its international significance and everyday use. In Germany, euro cash replaced the Deutsche Mark during the historic 2002 changeover.
