2 Euro Commemorative Coin Malta 2012 10th Anniversary of Euro coins and banknotes Ten Years of Euro Banknotes and Coins – issued by Malta in 2012, this €2 commemorative coin marks the tenth anniversary of euro cash. Since 2002, participating countries have shared euro banknotes and coins, and within a decade the currency had become an important part of the international monetary system. The central design combines a euro sign with a globe, placing the currency in the context of people and family life, finance, trade, industry, energy and research. The image also includes the European Central Bank’s Eurotower, ships, factories and two wind turbines. The initials “A.H.” identify designer Helmut Andexlinger.
