2 Euro Commemorative Coin Slovakia 2012 10th Anniversary of Euro coins and banknotes Euro banknotes and coins entered everyday use across the euro area in 2002. Ten years later, a joint issue by all euro-area countries celebrated the currency as part of daily life and as a visible sign of European cooperation. Helmut Andexlinger’s design places the euro symbol alongside references to people, trade, industry, energy and research. Slovakia’s version adds its own experience of the euro to that wider European story.
