2 Euro Commemorative Coin Slovenia 2014 600th Anniversary of the Coronation of Barbara Celje Slovenia 2-Euro Commemorative Coin 2014 600th Anniversary of the Coronation of Barbara of Cilli Barbara of Cilli, born around 1392 to Hermann II, Count of Celje, entered European dynastic politics through her 1405 marriage to Sigismund of Luxembourg, King of Hungary. After Sigismund’s election as Holy Roman Emperor in 1411, he was crowned King of Germany at Aachen on 8 November 1414, and Barbara was crowned queen beside him. Her elevation placed the Counts of Celje among the continent’s most prominent ruling circles. She later became Queen of Bohemia in her own right at Prague in 1437. The commemorative coin thus recalls both a royal coronation and the wider ambitions of the Celje dynasty.
