Spain’s official mint described 2014 as a historic year and lists the issue under the title “Proclamation of His Majesty King Felipe VI.” The reverse pairs overlapping portraits of the two monarchs, with Felipe VI in the foreground and Juan Carlos I behind. In the lower field appear the country name “ESPAÑA” and the year “2014,” while the mintmark sits to the right; the outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union. Released in December 2014, the coin records this constitutional transfer of the crown.
