2 Euro Commemorative Coin Andorra 2014 20 Years in the Council of Europe This €2 commemorative coin marks Andorra’s accession to the Council of Europe on 10 November 1994. Membership connected the Pyrenean principality with a pan-European institution whose work centres on human rights, democracy and the rule of law. For Andorra, accession formed part of its wider international opening and the consolidation of its sovereignty after the 1993 constitutional reform. The design expresses the anniversary through a prominent numeral “20”, denoting two decades of membership. Twelve stars appear inside the zero, while Andorra’s coat of arms is placed to the left. The inscription “ANDORRA AL CONSELL D’EUROPA” identifies the commemorated relationship in Catalan. Although the coin bears the year 2014, the cited coin record states that it was issued on 29 February 2016.
