2 Euro Commemorative Coin Luxembourg 2015 15th Anniversary of the Accession to the throne of H.R.H. the Grand Duke The Luxembourg 2-euro commemorative coin issued in 2015 marks the 15th anniversary of Grand Duke Henri’s accession. Henri became head of state on 7 October 2000 after his father, Grand Duke Jean, abdicated; the formal entry took place that day in the Chamber of Deputies. The coin was released on 11 June 2015 (per Eurocollezione). In the inner core are portraits of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa; above them appear the year 2000, the inscription “Luxembourg” and the minting year 2015, while a French commemorative legend is placed below. The design is credited to the team at the Banque centrale du Luxembourg and also features the winged caduceus mark of the Royal Dutch Mint and the ship mark of Mint Director M. Brouwer.
