2 Euro Commemorative Coin Belgium 2016 Belgian Team Participating in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games The 2016 Summer Olympics took place in Rio de Janeiro and were the first Olympic Games held in South America. Belgium competed with its own athletes and marked the event on a commemorative coin. The issue honours the Olympic ideal, in which sporting achievement, encounter and fair competition come together. It also recalls that international sport makes national teams visible while bringing together people from very different countries and backgrounds.
