2 Euro Commemorative Coin Malta 2016 From Children in Solidarity Love – Issued in 2016, this €2 commemorative coin launched the “From Children in Solidarity” programme under the theme “Solidarity through Love”. The initiative brought together the Central Bank of Malta, the Ministry for Education and Employment, and the Malta Community Chest Fund. Secondary-school students in Malta were invited to submit designs and choose the winning entry, giving young people a direct role in expressing social responsibility. The coin’s central image shows two hands forming a heart around the Maltese flag, with stylised human figures at the wrists. The winning design was created by student Sarah Cilia and engraved by Noel Galea Bason.
