2 Euro Commemorative Coin Malta 2017 From Children in Solidarity 2017 – Peace. Malta issued this €2 commemorative coin in November 2017 as the second release in its “From Children in Solidarity” series. Its theme, “Peace,” links the idea of peaceful coexistence with solidarity and mutual support. The coin therefore presents peace not merely as an abstract ideal, but as a value strengthened through togetherness. At the centre, two children hold the Maltese flag while a dove flies above them, creating a clear and hopeful visual message. The design was selected through a school competition won by student Katya Muscat, and Noel Galea Bason adapted it for minting. Twelve European Union stars surround the scene.
