2 Euro Commemorative Coin Luxembourg 2004 Effigy and Monogram of Grand Duke Henri Released in 2004 as Luxembourg's first 2-euro commemorative coin, it commemorates the 80th anniversary of the first use of a monogram on a Luxembourg coin (reference year 1924). The national side features a right-facing bust of Grand Duke Henri, with his monogram — a characteristic 'H' beneath the grand-ducal crown — placed on either side. The twelve EU stars form a semicircle around the monogram; the design also includes LËTZEBUERG, the date 2004 and the inscription HENRI – Grand-Duc de Luxembourg. The bust was created by Yvette Gastauer-Claire, while other design elements were prepared by the Banque centrale du Luxembourg team. The Coincard is dated 26 July 2004 and the coin became legal tender upon publication in the EU Official Journal.
