2 Euro Commemorative Coin Malta 2018 Malta's Prehistoric Monuments - UNESCO World Heritage Site Mnajdra Temples: Issued in 2018, this €2 commemorative coin is dedicated to the prehistoric temple complex near Qrendi on Malta’s southern coast. It is the third release in a seven-coin series devoted to Malta’s prehistoric temples. Mnajdra comprises three megalithic structures, with its oldest elements dating to approximately 3,600–3,200 BC, making the complex one of the world’s earliest free-standing stone constructions. Since 1992, it has formed part of the UNESCO World Heritage property “Megalithic Temples of Malta.” The national side depicts the three temples and bears the inscriptions “MNAJDRA,” “TEMPLES,” and “3 600–2 500 BC.” Noel Galea Bason designed the national side.
