The restoration was formally concluded on 8 April 1994, and the Vatican City commemorated its twenty-fifth anniversary with a coin issued on 1 October 2019. Its central image presents a focused detail of the immense altar-wall fresco: Christ is shown as the commanding judge, with the Virgin Mary beside him. This carefully selected scene links the coin to both Renaissance art and the preservation of one of the Vatican’s most important artistic treasures. The dates 1994–2019 establish the historical interval, while the surrounding inscription identifies the Sistine Chapel and refers to the completion of the restoration.
