Description
2 Euro Commemorative Coin Luxembourg 2019 100th Anniversary of the Universal Suffrage This coin commemorates the centenary of Luxembourg’s 1919 constitutional revision, which removed tax-based voting qualifications, extended the franchise to women, lowered the voting age to 21 and introduced a proportional list electoral system in place of the majority system. The design shows Grand Duke Henri at left and a hand placing a ballot into a ballot box at right. Above the motif arcs the inscription “Centenaire du suffrage universel” with the dates “1919–2019” and “LUXEMBOURG” beneath; the outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The motif is credited to Herbert Wähner.
