2 Euro Commemorative Coin Finland 2020 100th Anniversary of the University of Turku The coin commemorates the foundation of the University of Turku on 28 February 1920 as the world’s first Finnish‑language university. Its establishment rested on a broad civic campaign: the Turku Finnish University Society raised funds from 22,040 individuals over three years to found the institution. The design shows an abstract, lattice‑like or network pattern representing the interaction between universities and society. Above the motif the date 2020 appears; on the right are the country code 'FI' and the mint mark. The design is credited to Petri Neuvonen. The issue date is 04.05.2020.
