2 Euro Commemorative Coin Luxembourg 2020 200th Anniversary of the birth of Prince Henry The coin marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Prince Henri d’Orange‑Nassau (1820–1879) of the House of Orange‑Nassau. On 5 February 1850 he was appointed Lieutenant‑Représentant of King‑Grand Duke William III in Luxembourg. After swearing the oath to the 1848 constitution, he took up permanent residence in the Grand Duchy and remained there until his death. The design juxtaposes two portraits: at right the incumbent Grand Duke Henri; at left Prince Henri with a semicircular inscription reading “Prince Henri d’Orange‑Nassau,” and the dates “1820–1879” below. “LUXEMBOURG” and “2020” appear at the base, while the outer ring carries the twelve stars of the European Union.
