2 Euro Commemorative Coin Finland 2020 100th Anniversary of the birth of Väinö Linna The commemorative coin honors the 100th birthday of Finnish author Väinö Linna (1920–1992). The obverse places his portrait facing right, with the inscription "VÄINÖ LINNA" to the left. Thread-like lines across the background refer both to his earlier employment at the Finlayson textile factory and to the interwoven strands of plot found in his novels. Along the lower edge appear the issue year 2020, the country code FI and the mint mark; the outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag. The designer is given as Petri Neuvonen, and the coin was issued on 14 December 2020.
