2 Euro Commemorative Coin Andorra 2020 50th Anniversary of Universal Female Suffrage Andorra’s 2020 €2 commemorative coin marks five decades of universal female suffrage. Women gained the right to vote in national elections in 1970, while the right to stand for election was established in 1973. The anniversary therefore recalls a significant stage in the principality’s development toward political equality. Designed by Judit Gaset Flinch, the coin presents a woman’s face surrounded by spiralling lines that emerge from her head like hair. The lines are formed from closely arranged female names in Catalan. Because the names are difficult to distinguish individually, the composition symbolises women’s solidarity in the collective struggle for political rights. The inscriptions identify the celebration as “50 years of universal female suffrage” and give the dates 1970–2020.
