2 Euro Commemorative Coin Belgium 2021 100th Anniversary of the Constitution of the Belgium-Luxembourg Economic Union (BLEU) One hundred years after the 1921 treaty, this coin again recalls the Belgium–Luxembourg Economic Union. The union linked the two countries through a common customs area and close monetary cooperation. It endured the political and economic changes of the twentieth century and remains an example of how neighbouring states can pool their interests through lasting institutions. The 2021 issue deliberately echoes an earlier Belgian-Luxembourg commemorative coin and shows that European integration also grew from long-standing regional partnerships.
