2 Euro Commemorative Coin Andorra 2021 Taking Care of our Seniors Andorra’s 2021 €2 commemorative coin was issued during the COVID-19 pandemic to draw attention to the protection and care of older people. An official Andorran study reports that the first wave affected the country’s oldest and most vulnerable residents particularly severely. Measures intended to contain the disease also brought fear, loneliness and social isolation, especially for people living in institutions or alone at home. The coin expresses this concern through the Catalan inscription “CUIDEM LA NOSTRA GENT GRAN,” meaning “Let us take care of our elderly.” Its central image shows a younger hand holding a visibly aged hand, with a stethoscope beneath them. Repeated SARS-CoV-2 images and the name “ANDORRA” connect the appeal to public protection against the virus. The issue comprised 70,000 coins.
