2 Euro Commemorative Coin Greece 2022 200th Anniversary of the first Greek Constitution Issued in 2022, this Greek €2 commemorative coin marks the bicentenary of the first constitution of modern Greece, created during the War of Independence. In January 1822, the First National Assembly of the insurgent Greeks adopted it at Epidaurus as a provisional constitutional charter. Its purpose was to replace the revolutionary movement’s separate regional administrations with a common political framework. The document established representative institutions, distinguished legislative, executive and judicial functions, and introduced constitutionalism as a principle of political order. The coin depicts the Temple of Asclepius at Epidaurus and the god’s statue, adapting imagery from a historic medal commemorating the First National Assembly.
