2 Euro Commemorative Coin Belgium 2022 35th Anniversary of the Erasmus Program The Erasmus Programme was launched in 1987 to make study periods at European universities easier for students. Over the decades it became one of the European Union’s most visible education programmes and now reaches far beyond university study. The common issue for its 35th anniversary depicts Erasmus of Rotterdam, after whom the programme is named. For Belgium, with several language communities and many international university links, the theme strongly represents learning across borders and cultural exchange.
