2 Euro Commemorative Coin Germany 2022 35th Anniversary of the Erasmus Program Germany’s 2022 €2 commemorative coin marks 35 years of the Erasmus programme, which has shaped student mobility and European cooperation since 1987. It formed part of a common-design issue released by all euro-area countries and entered circulation on 1 July 2022. The design, chosen through a Europe-wide online vote, combines a well-known image of the humanist Erasmus of Rotterdam with a web of beams linking beacons. These connections represent the intellectual and human exchanges among European students, while stars emerging from them suggest cooperation among the countries. The contemporary figure 35 clearly identifies the anniversary.
