2 Euro Commemorative Coin Slovenia 2022 35th Anniversary of the Erasmus Program Slovenian €2 Commemorative Coin 2022 35 Years of the Erasmus Programme This joint euro-area commemorative issue celebrates the 35th anniversary of Erasmus in 2022, tracing the programme back to its establishment in June 1987. Erasmus, later expanded as Erasmus+, became a flagship European framework for education, training, youth and sport, encouraging learning and personal encounters across national borders. Its name honours Desiderius Erasmus, the Dutch Renaissance humanist whose travels and intellectual work embodied the value of cross-border exchange. It also forms an acronym for a European Community scheme supporting university-student mobility. Slovenia’s coin therefore commemorates not only an anniversary, but a lasting instrument of European connection.
