The issue looks back five centuries to a painter whose work helped shape the Italian Renaissance. Born in Città della Pieve, Perugino was active in Florence and Perugia and contributed to the decoration of the Sistine Chapel. The principal image presents the Baptism of Christ, a fresco belonging to the chapel’s cycle on the life of Jesus. A second motif shows the artist’s self-portrait from the Collegio del Cambio in Perugia. His name, the dates 1523–2023, and the Vatican City inscription frame the commemorative theme.
