2 Euro Commemorative Coin Finland 2008 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights The coin commemorates the UN General Assembly’s proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on 10 December 1948 in Paris and emphasizes its role as a common standard for nations and peoples. It embodies fundamental, universal claims — human dignity and equality, personal liberty and security, freedom of expression and religion, and social and cultural entitlements — in a concise national motif. Finnish sculptor Tapio Kettunen’s design places a human figure within a heart accompanied by the inscription HUMAN RIGHTS; below are FI, the artist initial K and the mint mark, while the outer ring shows the twelve EU stars. The mintage is 1.5 million.
