2 Euro Commemorative Coin Belgium 2023 75th Anniversary of the National Suffrage for Women in Belgium Universal women’s suffrage was established by law in Belgium in 1948; in the 1949 parliamentary elections, women could vote on the same terms as men for the first time. The coin for the 75th anniversary recalls that political equality was the result of long struggle. It honours women who worked through parties, associations and social movements for full democratic participation. The issue also points to the continuing task of strengthening political representation and equality in everyday life.
