2 Euro Commemorative Coin Andorra 2023 Summer Solstice Fire Festivals in the Pyrenees Andorra’s 2023 commemorative €2 coin honours the summer-solstice fire festivals of the Pyrenees. Celebrated annually, these festivities were added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2015. In Andorra, torch-bearers descend from the mountains after nightfall and bring fire to communal beacons. The ritual reinforces local belonging, identity and continuity, while families, associations and institutions help transmit it. The coin depicts a fallaire wearing a traditional cape and swinging a burning falla in a circular motion. Made from tree bark, the falla creates a conspicuous ring of fire. Background lines evoke the solstice, and the coin was issued on 27 November 2023 with a mintage of 70,000 pieces.
