2 Euro Commemorative Coin Germany 2024 175th Anniversary of the Frankfurt Constitution, St Paul's Church Constitution Germany’s 2024 two-euro commemorative coin marks the 175th anniversary of the Paulskirchenverfassung, or Frankfurt Constitution. On 27 March 1849, the Frankfurt National Assembly adopted the “Constitution of the German Empire” in St Paul’s Church, representing an early attempt to establish a unified and democratic German state. Political resistance prevented it from taking lasting effect, yet its catalogue of rights and parliamentary principles influenced later German constitutional traditions. Designed by Bodo Broschat, the coin shows the historic church together with the written constitution and a quill. Female allegories of unity, justice and freedom crown the scene, while black, red and gold evoke the democratic movement.
