2 Euro Commemorative Coin Luxembourg 2025 75th Anniversary of the Robert Schuman Declaration - Photo Version 2 Euro Commemorative Coin Luxembourg 2025 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration This issue honours the declaration delivered by French foreign minister Robert Schuman on 9 May 1950. It proposed placing the coal and steel production of European states under a joint High Authority; from it emerged the European Coal and Steel Community, founded by France, the Federal Republic of Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. At the base, a hand signs a treaty with a pen formed from a leafy branch; the branch turns into doves that curve into a semicircle of six stars, referencing the six signatory states. Completing the design are the numeral 75, Grand Duke Henri’s monogram, the inscriptions DÉCLARATION SCHUMAN 09.05.1950, LUXEMBOURG and 2025, the designer’s initials CP (Chiara Principe) and the engraver’s mark JJ (Joaquin Jimenez).
