Description
2 Euro Commemorative Coin Malta 2025 Maltese Native Species Maltese Ox – 2025. This €2 commemorative coin was issued in June 2025 as Malta’s second commemorative release of the year. Its central subject is the Maltese ox, known in Maltese as “il-gendus Malti”, a native cattle breed. By highlighting the animal’s vulnerable status, the coin combines a numismatic commemoration with an appeal to recognise and preserve a distinctive part of Malta’s natural and cultural heritage. The design places the semicircular inscription “IL-GENDUS MALTI” above the animal; “MALTA” and “2025” appear below. The initials “MAF” identify designer Maria Anna Frisone, while twelve stars encircle the national side.
