2 Euro Commemorative Coin Croatia 2025 Croatian cities - City of Pula - Arena This issue centres on the Arena of Pula, the great Roman amphitheatre on the Istrian coast. Built in the first century, when Pula was an important settlement in the Roman Empire, its monumental form and exceptionally well-preserved fabric make it one of Croatia’s defining ancient monuments. The design combines the amphitheatre with the Adriatic Sea and a recognisable city landmark. In doing so, the coin does not present Pula merely as an ancient ruin, but as a place where Roman architecture, urban life, and a maritime landscape meet. It condenses two millennia of history into an image that is both regional in character and European in meaning.
