2 Euro Commemorative Coin Vatican City 2025 A new Pope is coming 2 Euro Commemorative Coin Vatican 2025 – Sedisvakanz MMXXV marks the interregnum that followed the death of Pope Francis on 21 April 2025, when the papal office remained vacant until the election of his successor. Issued on 27 October 2025, the coin recalls a decisive moment in the Vatican’s institutional and ecclesial calendar, when authority is administered according to special transitional procedures. Its central design features the coat of arms of Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church. Above the shield appear the ombrellino and crossed keys, traditional emblems associated with the Apostolic Camera. A dove separates part of the inscription, while twelve five-pointed stars surround the image in the coin’s outer ring.
