2 Euro Commemorative Coin Finland 2026 Raili and Reima Pietilä The two-euro commemorative coin honors a Finnish architectural couple who shaped a distinctive, nature-informed strand of postwar architecture. The partners developed an organic formal language that deliberately moved away from strict rationalist doctrines, incorporating forms inspired by landscape, rock and forest. The historical reference on the piece is Dipoli, located on the Aalto University campus in Espoo: originally conceived as a student house for the Helsinki University of Technology, it was chosen in a competition in the early 1960s and completed in 1966. The design depicts Dipoli’s façade, with a diagonal inscription bearing the architects’ names above it. To the left appear the mint mark, the country code “FI” and the issue year. The mint has announced an August release; no specific date is officially confirmed.
