2 Euro Commemorative Coin Luxembourg 2005 50th Birthday of Grand Duke Henri, 5th Anniversary of his Accession to the throne and 100th Anniversary of the death of Grand Duke Adolphe Released in 2005, this Luxembourg two-euro commemorative marks three linked anniversaries: Grand Duke Henri's 50th birthday (born 1955), the fifth anniversary of his accession in 2000, and the centenary of Grand Duke Adolphe's death on 17 November 1905. The obverse depicts Henri's right‑facing profile positioned above Adolphe's profile; above them appears the legend GRANDS-DUCS DE LUXEMBOURG, with the names and dates HENRI *1955 and ADOLPHE †1905 underneath. The composition is credited to design teams of the Banque centrale du Luxembourg; the year 2005 and the country name LËTZEBUERG appear in the outer ring. The European Central Bank explicitly cites these three references as the coin's occasion.
